Each small group of students was given a short fable from the book Squid Will Be Squids. The group determined how they would retell the story to the rest of the class. As the students performed, the rest of the class listened to the story to determine the author's message or moral of the story. Here are the videos from the shares.
Students began by searching the classroom for plane (2D) and solid (3D) shapes. They took photographs of their findings and took notes on the attributes of the shape they wished to include in our "digital book ." Then they used the Chromebooks to create a page on the Google Slides document. They inserted their image and formatted it. Voila!
These are digital books that we created after viewing Jim West's Aesop's Fables puppet show at Lincoln Theater. Enjoy our opinion writings about the best part of the show!
Here is the final product from our work with Mrs. Howes during our HOT block! Each child learned techniques to draw a creature using features from different animals and various lines to add texture. We then created a descriptive piece of writing about our creatures. Enjoy our Little Bird Tales book which showcases all our hard work. The entire writing is read aloud by each student, and he or she selected a favorite sentence to display as the text on the page.
