New Britain Museum of American Art ~ January 31, 2014
Our field trip was a big success. We had an incredible docent led tour. Not only were we able to view and learn about the drawings of Maurice Sendak, but we visited the other rooms of the museum as well. The children learned about different types of artwork, techniques and all of the hard work and time that goes into some of the pieces before the final product. We are looking forward to sharing our creatures and writings with you when the HOT block is completed! Hope you can use the free pass to visit the museum again soon and share with your parents or grandparents that were not able to attend all that you learned.
ASSEMBLY SHARE ~ January 24, 2014
This share showcased the artwork created during out geometry unit. After learning about attributes, names and relationships between shapes, the students designed their own object using geometric shapes. The media was construction paper. Below you will find snapshots of the presentation and the pieces up close. Some students chose to share a short informational writing about the shapes used or facts they learned while researching their object.
